Coaches & Training Philosophy
At Grit + Grace Sports Academy, athletes train with current and former college players, semi-pro and pro athletes, and coaches from all levels. Sessions are led by a NAYS-certified coach and kept small so every athlete gets real coaching, not just lines and laps.
NAYS-certified lead coach • CPR/First Aid • Small class caps • Character + skills in every session
Who’s on the court?
Every session has a clear lead coach on the floor. Our coaching bench includes:
- Current and former college athletes
- Semi-pro and pro players who understand the next level
- Youth, high school, and grassroots coaches from different levels
- Occasional guest experts (skills trainers, strength & conditioning, mindset)
The lead coach is NAYS-certified and will be at all sessions unless there is an emergency. You’ll always know who’s in charge and who your athlete can go to with questions.
How we coach
- High reps, clear teaching: We break skills into simple pieces, then build back up with game-like reps.
- Positive but honest: Athletes get encouragement, but also real feedback and accountability.
- Age-appropriate: Drills and expectations are adjusted for grades 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12.
- Character & leadership: Effort, attitude, and being a good teammate matter as much as makes and misses.
- Safety first: We watch for fatigue, nagging pains, and overuse — especially during conditioning blocks.
Safety, Standards, and Communication
Your athlete’s safety is non-negotiable. Our standards include:
- Lead coach is NAYS-certified in youth sports coaching
- CPR/First Aid training
- Clear check-in and check-out expectations for families
- Small class caps so we can actually supervise and coach
We also keep communication simple for families:
- Session details and reminders sent to your email on file
- Clear policies on refunds, make-ups, and weather changes
- Easy way to ask questions before or after sessions
