Waiver & Policies
These Waiver & Policies apply to all programs offered by Grit + Grace Sports Academy (“Grit + Grace,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By registering your athlete, checking the required boxes online, or participating in any session, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to the following.
Last updated: November 2025 • Location: Oak Lawn, Illinois (USA)
1. General Acknowledgement
You affirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the athlete being registered, or that you have permission from the parent/guardian to complete registration, make payments, and agree to this Waiver & Policies on their behalf.
You understand that this document works together with our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Refunds policy. If there is a conflict, the document providing the higher level of safety and protection for athletes will generally apply, except where specific legal requirements dictate otherwise.
2. Health, Medical Readiness & Screening
Basketball skills and conditioning sessions may include running, jumping, rapid changes of direction, body-weight exercises, and contact with other participants. By allowing your athlete to participate, you confirm that:
- Your athlete is physically able to participate in age-appropriate sports and conditioning activities.
- You have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, allergies, injuries, or limitations on the registration form or directly to a coach.
- You understand that you should consult a physician before your athlete begins any new training or conditioning program, especially if they have a history of injury or medical concerns.
- You will not send your athlete to a session if they are sick, contagious, or unable to participate safely.
3. Assumption of Risk
You understand that participation in basketball and athletic training carries inherent risks, including but not limited to: sprains and strains, impacts with the floor or equipment, collisions with other players, overexertion, and rare but serious events such as cardiac incidents.
By registering for and participating in any Grit + Grace program, you voluntarily assume all risks of injury, illness, or property damage that may result from normal participation in training sessions, except where such risks cannot be waived under applicable law.
4. Release of Liability & Indemnification
Except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct, you agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless: Grit + Grace Sports Academy, its owners, coaches, staff, contractors, volunteers, and facility partners (including the Oak Lawn Pavilion and other venues) from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of your athlete’s participation in our programs or presence at our events.
This release applies to claims for personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death, whether based on negligence, breach of contract, or any other legal theory, to the fullest extent permitted by law in the State of Illinois.
5. Emergency Medical Care Authorization
In the event of an injury or medical emergency where you cannot be reached promptly using the contact information you provided, you authorize Grit + Grace coaches, staff, or venue personnel to:
- Administer basic first aid within their training and certification.
- Contact emergency medical services (EMS) if they reasonably believe it is necessary.
- Share relevant information (e.g., known allergies, injuries, emergency contacts) with medical professionals to support treatment.
You understand that you are responsible for any medical costs resulting from emergency care or treatment, and that Grit + Grace does not provide health or accident insurance.
6. Athlete, Parent & Spectator Conduct
We aim to create a positive, encouraging environment for all athletes. To support this, you agree that:
- Athletes will follow coach instructions, respect teammates, and use equipment safely.
- Bullying, harassment, or repeated unsafe behavior may result in removal from a session or program.
- Parents/guardians and spectators will be respectful toward coaches, staff, officials, and other families.
- Grit + Grace may, at its discretion, suspend or remove an athlete from programs due to serious or repeated violations of conduct or safety rules. In such cases, unused credits may not be refunded.
7. Facility Rules & Venue Partners
Grit + Grace often runs sessions in public or private facilities such as the Oak Lawn Pavilion. Families agree to follow all posted and communicated facility rules, including:
- Proper footwear on courts (no street shoes that may damage surfaces).
- No food or open drinks on the court unless specifically permitted.
- Using designated entrances/exits, restrooms, and spectator areas.
- Abiding by staff instructions regarding parking, check-in, and facility access.
Facilities may have their own waivers or policies that apply in addition to this page. We are not liable for facility management decisions (e.g., closures, maintenance), but will work in good faith to communicate schedule changes and provide reasonable make-ups or credits where appropriate.
8. Cancellations, Make-Ups & Refunds
We understand that family schedules change. Our general approach:
- Family cancellations: Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if your athlete cannot attend a scheduled session so we can offer the spot to another athlete.
- No-shows / late cancellations: Sessions missed without the required notice may result in the credit being used and not eligible for a refund or make-up.
- Program cancellations by Grit + Grace: If we cancel a session for reasons such as coach illness, facility closure, or unsafe conditions, we will make good-faith efforts to offer a make-up session or credit.
- Full refund details: For specifics on drop-ins, packs, season registrations, and timelines, refer to our Refunds page, which is incorporated here by reference.
9. Credits, Transfers & Sibling Discounts
Training credits from packs are generally tied to the purchasing household but may be shared among siblings as allowed by our policies.
- Siblings: Siblings may receive a discount on an equal or lower-priced plan as described on our Pricing & Packs page. Discounts are typically applied at check-in or manually by our staff.
- Transfers: Within a household, credits may be used for different athletes when arranged in advance with us.
- Expiration: Credits may be valid for a specific season or date range. Expiration details will be communicated at the time of purchase or via email.
10. Media, Photo & Video Consent
During sessions, coaches may occasionally capture photos or video for:
- Training review and feedback with athletes.
- Website, social media, or printed materials that showcase our programs.
By checking the media consent box during registration, you grant Grit + Grace permission to capture and use images or video of your athlete for the purposes listed above, without compensation. We will not publish personal contact information or sensitive details with photos.
You may revoke consent for future promotional use at any time by contacting us in writing. Revoking consent will not require us to remove materials already printed or published, but we will honor your request going forward.
11. Data & Privacy Practices
We collect and use personal information (such as contact details, athlete names, grades, and relevant notes) to run our programs, manage registrations and credits, and communicate with families. Our data practices, including how we store, protect, and retain information, are described in detail in our Privacy Policy.
By registering online or using our website, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the Privacy Policy and understand your rights concerning your data.
12. Electronic Agreement & Signature
By checking the waiver and media consent boxes on our registration forms and submitting them electronically, you agree that:
- You have read and understand this Waiver & Policies page and agree to its terms.
- You are authorized to agree on behalf of the athlete and their parent/guardian if you are not the parent yourself.
- Your electronic consent and submission have the same legal effect as a handwritten signature to the extent permitted by law.
